Everyday connections

Choose one idea and enjoy a few minutes together. Follow your child’s interests and allow time for a response.

  1. During play: Notice what your child chooses. Describe one action, such as “The bear jumps.” Take a turn if invited.
  2. With a book: Talk about one picture. You can say “I see a cat,” then pause. Your child can point, comment, or turn the page.
  3. Getting dressed: Offer a real choice between two available items. Accept a word, gesture, look, sign, or AAC response.
  4. On a walk: Notice an interesting sound or object. Share what you see and give your child space to respond.
  5. At the end of the day: Share one thing you enjoyed. Invite your child to share in any way they choose.
